Weekend Recap

This weekend was jammed backed full of my favorite people!

Friday. My mom, my sister and her family all came to visit us! Friday night the boys went fishing (shocking!) while my mom, sis and I took the kids to the beach for a photo shoot. It was overcast but it wasn't cold and it wasn't hot and there was no wind. It was the perfect night for a beach stroll! Of course we had to get an ice cream!
Saturday. It was pretty rainy so we decided to go to a kids hands on museum! We got in just in the nick of time. There was a 30 minute wait time after we got in. The kids had a blast! They painted a house and built a few fort/statue like things.
Noah is obsessed with fire tucks so he was so excited to see a kid sized fire truck he could play in. He also found a hammock in the kid size boat.
They  had a TV station set up, but the kids weren’t impressed until they saw themselves on TV! You can see how their reactions changed when they saw the TV.
We had lunch at Jimmy John’s then headed home for nap time. The boys were picking up our ¼ cow from the processor and stocked the freezer full of fresh cuts! We had chicken and steak tacos for dinner and it was a huge hit! We played around for a while. Katie tried on some of my old shoes. She’s a girl after my own heart!

Bedtime came and the adults played some cards. My sister and I tried to play one hand of euchre together. I’m not a fan but other Michiganders are obsessed. At least we can say we tried.
Sunday. We got up early and packed everyone up. Eric and I had to get to a birthday party near Lansing. It was great to see my family then Eric’s family all packed into one weekend! Eric’s sister found an old bib of Eric’s so of course we had to make him put it on!
Kayden opened his presents and we ate the delicious cake Stacy made.
Also I was able to get my hands on my niece for about a half hour! She’s 3 months old and the most precious thing you’ve ever seen! Sadly I didn’t get a picture with her but in a few weeks I’ll get some pictures because Eric and I were asked to be her god parents so we’ll probably get a few photos at the baptism! I can’t wait!! After the party we went to Eric’s grandparents house to hang some pictures I painted for her play room. Eric’s mom was having a quilt made that had sheep all over it. I painted the sheep from the quilt onto canvas so it would give a little d├ęcor to the room. It was nice to see them and have a piece of Eric’s grandma’s famous pie! She makes like 20 different pie’s and they are all so delicious! We got home around 7:30 and we crashed hard on the couch! We were exhausted.
Monday. Tonight is draft night. I never thought I would be involved with a fantasy football league but this year it’s happening. I’ve picked a few players out by looking at a least and picking a few names but my brother in law informed me that I should rethink a few of my players. I still don't understand how you win Fantasy Football but I’m just going with the flow!

I can’t believe tomorrow is September 1. One month till my birthday! J

Happy Monday

Weekend Recap

My weekend was long, fun and relaxing! Sadly I was not able to snag as many photos as I would have liked to but needless to say we had a great time.
Friday. Eric took some guys from work out fishing. They caught a few which is great! After they met us at a local bar for some drinks. We had friends coming in from out of town that met us there when they got in. We had a few Rum Runners then off to bed for our early morning/all day long boat trip.

Saturday. 6AM we were on the boat and on our way out. Sadly I lost the first fish we had on but we caught a few more after that so they boys were still happy. It was pretty chilly out. It was only in the 70s so we laid out on the bow but we kept our dresses on. We ended up going in for a dip and everyone had their life jackets on because the water was a bit rough. Eric is like a 6 year old when it comes to jumping into water. He could do it over and over and over again and not get tired! Around 5PM we pulled back into the harbor and man were we tired.

Sunday. Eric and I both fell asleep at 8PM Saturday and slept till 8 the next morning! It felt so good to sleep in! We did a few chores around the house. We started brining stuff up from the basement. We pulled up some tubs and its starting to look pretty empty down there. We have a wet basement and if we are going to eventually sell our house we need to fix it. Eric and I are clearing everything out so that we can cut into the floor, install a membrane to catch the water, then the membrane will take it below the floor to the sump pump. It may sound like I know what I’m talking about but I don’t! hahaha I can’t figure out how the membrane takes the water under the floor instead of on top of it like it is now. Any who I’m excited that we are getting started on fixing it! Eric is super excited because if it’s nice down there he can do more work down there. We went grocery shopping then had dinner at our in-law’s house to catch up with them.

All in all it was a fun relaxing weekend! With this cold weather coming around I can’t wait to have more relaxing weekends at home with Eric. During the summer we are either out of town or we have visitors and I love the summer madness but after 3 straight months of it I’m excited for it to start calming down! J

3rd Wedding Anniversary

Today my husband and I have been happily married for 3 years. It feels like we just met 3 days ago on our first day of school. I remember exactly what he was wearing, a backwards pinstriped Detroit Tigers hat, tinted sunglasses… I kid you not he thought they were cool…a ¼ zip down Ralf Lauren cream sweater, jeans and Timberland Work boots.
I remember the first day we were both running a little late….nothing has changed there….so we both sat in the back of the class. I dropped my pencil and he picked it up for me. A few weeks later he looked me up on Facebook after learning my name from the sign in sheet (I wore sweatshirts with my last name on the back and there were only two girls in the class so it wasn't too difficult). We had a few other conversations but it wasn't until the final project that we legit spent time together. We worked on a project at another classmates house. When we left we made plans to go bowling over Christmas break (if it didn't turn out well I didn't want to have to go back and see him in class the next week so I waited till the class was over). We took both of our roommates along incase the other was on America’s Most Wanted list. We went bowling and had a blast. Over break he kept calling me and we just kept seeing each other from then on. We have been together for 9 years and married for 3 of them. We must be doing something right because we are still madly in love!

My best marriage advice is this.
-It's OK to go to sleep mad. I would rather sleep on it and talk calmly about it tomorrow, than to say something silly that I’ll regret now.
-It’s not always 50-50. Sometimes its 80-20. You have to compromise (my mother in law told me this).
-Being honest with your spouse is the best thing you can do for a marriage. Secrets only make things worse.

Weekend Recap

Friday. The boys were in a fishing tournament on Saturday so they needed to prep the boat on Friday night. They went out and caught a few while Chels and I went to dinner at Clementine's. It still amazes me that some people will wait for more than an hour for a table when the bar is open seating!!! That means you can sit right away and order food! We had to fight the crowd to get in the door then we get to the bar and we heard crickets!! We walked off our dinner by walking down to the frozen yogurt shop! Then walked about half way down to the pier and watch the boys come through the harbor. After our fro-yo  we met the boys back at the boat to say hello. The boys were eager to get home and go to sleep because they knew it was going to be an early morning the next day.
Saturday. The boys did their fishing tournament and caught 8 fish. Look at all their fish(that's now sitting in my fridge...anyone wants some salmon?)!
I slept in with Moose and was able to get ready at a very slow pace, it was wonderful! Also I had twins in my eggs that morning! I have never see that before!
I found my old hair extensions while cleaning so I put them in my hair and I thought I did a pretty great job! So I curled them and  you could never know it wasn't my real hair.  (My sister bought these extension for her wedding in 2006. She gave them to me to wear for my wedding in 2012 and I never wear them. So I was cleaning the other day and I found them tucked in a corner, I cleaned them and straighten them and thought…WHY NOT! J).  I picked Eric up from the boat and we headed 3 and a half hours north for my cousins wedding. The place they had the wedding at was awesome, Sojourn Resort.  It had everything you needed right there. A gorgeous inland lake, beach front, a pool, kayaks, shuffle board, horse shoe pits, it was awesome! Of course the wedding was beautiful!!

It was a great night. I might have ‘bonded/drank’ a little too much with my family but it was a good time! Oh and I almost cut my toe off on a door! BUUUTT someone else who was sober did the same thing so I didn't feel as bad that I was a little too over served. I will say my non-hospital, hates anything medical, gets clammy if you talk about anything medical husband came to my rescue. It was bleeding pretty bad and he went to the hospitality room with my mom and got all the supplies to suture me up. I am starting to think maybe he can handle me in labor. He literally claims up and faints when talking about hospitals and blood but when it comes to me he actually steps up to the plate.
My cousin Cristina who I never get to see although she's only 2 hours away! And then you can see how the night went based on the picture of Eric and I on the right.
Sunday. It was a rough day starting out. I never got sick, but I also had to wait until noon to eat to make sure I was in the clear. My head hurt so bad and the spins were in full force. Luckily the bride and groom gave everyone emergency hangover kits with Tylenol, water and Alka-Seltzer! I greatly appreciated it!
We chit chatted on our 3 hour drive home and got motivated to get stuff done on our house. I will say my husband kicked it into gear when we got home. We sold our riding snow blower because it’s just wasting space in the garage. He actually hung up all the shovels and racks on the wall, we hung a few other things that were just laying out and it looks like an actual garage again! Next we will work on our basement. Whenever it rains there is a small river/stream that runs through the middle of our basement. We are going to take everything out of the basement (purge most of it), then fix the water so that it drains under the floor and into the sump pump. We are completely serious about putting our house on the market. I found a house that I want so badly. I told Eric I would do terrible things to get that house! Hahah! Our house is great, it’s just not working for us anymore. We need at least a 4-5 bed and at least 2 full baths. My dream house is waiting for me with 5 bed 2.5 bath, awesome backyard, huge garage, shed, patio, awesome kitchen, amazing woodwork and nice wood blinds already installed on all windows and a ceiling fan already installed in every bedroom. Again I would do terrible things to get this house! AND ITS NAVY! I told Eric I want a navy house someday and my dream house is NAVY!!! J keep your fingers crossed that God helps put that amazing house in our hands! J Happy Monday!

Pretty Little Liar Recap/Spoilers - A is Revealed!

So last night I watched the summer finale of Pretty Little Liars and my mind is blown! THEY FINALLY EXPOSED WHO A IS!!!!! I knew it had to be someone we already knew but I thought it would have been one of the guys…little did I know it was a guy but a transgender guy who goes by the names A, Charles, Charlortte, and CECE DRAKE! So it turns out Charles is a legit member of the DiLaurentis family. The story Mr. D told about Charles putting Alison in a tub of hot water almost drowning her is true and the last straw that helped Mr. D and Mrs. D put Charles into Radley. Turns out Mr. D never visited Charles but Mrs. D visited him all the time. Mrs. D used to let Charles try on her dresses at home so she was already seeing signs that he was transgender. They ended up having a funeral for Charles 1.) to let Mr. D think he was dead so that he wouldn't be suspicious when Mrs. D visited a girl at Radley 2.) so that Charles could transition to Charlotte by grieving Charles death. Charlotte became a scholar and was given permission to attend a local college in the area. One day she called in a bomb threat so she could skip school and go visit her family. She ended up meeting her brother Jason at Rosewood High School and they sorta started dating (apparently not like kissing and junk but mostly hanging out). That summer Jason invited CeCe to the DiLaurentis lake house. CeCe and Alison became very  close. The night of Alison’s “alleged” death CeCe thought she was killing Bethany Young (who Charlotte thought was coming to kill Mrs. D) but really hit Ali over the head with the rock. Mrs. D saw the whole thing and put Charlotte back in Radley. Mona is the one who really killed Bethany Young because she thought she was killing Ali. Mona was so messed up after that they put her in Radley where she met CeCe/Charlotte. I’m still unsure of how Mona and CeCe became friends other than CeCe made Mona tell her everything about Hanna, Spencer, Aria and Emily. When CeCe got out privileges again she met the 4 girls and thought they were happy Ali was dead. She decided to start playing a game with them. The game has lasted 5 years! The other big shocker is that Sara, the other girl they thought was ‘trapped’ in the dollhouse, is really red coat and the black widow at Wilden’s funeral! Everyone thought Red Coat was Ali. There was much more revealed like, Bethany killed Toby’s mom and blamed it on Charles/Charlotte, and Mona is the one who ran Hanna over with the car, you know just little things. But now I want to watch the whole series all over again because I want to see all the thing things A did knowing that its CeCe! CRAZY! I am extremely satisfied with the finale and can’t wait till it starts back up in the fall/winter! Sorry if I spoiled it for anyone but it does say PLL Spoilers in the title!

Weekend Recap

Thursday. Since Eric was going up north to his deer camp, I drove to my parents house to spend the weekend with them. After dinner with my folks I drove to my Aunt’s house where I anticipated picking out fabric for a quilt I wanted to make but instead we just started making the quilt! We finished the front/quilted part. She had to sew the back on, add the padding then actually quilt it but I was amazed how much we got done! I picked it up on Saturday and all I have to do it finish the edges!

Also my Aunt gave me an American Flag that she quilted a while ago but never had anywhere to put it. I snatched that up and put it up the second I got home! :)

Friday. I got up and did a little shopping! I got a lot of decorations at the salvation army then I dropped into TJ’s and ended up spending more than I needed to! I spent the rest of the day working from home….when I say working from home I mean working pool side. I had dinner with my mom, visited the ATT store where they messed a few things up before they finally got her phone working. My mother now has an iPhone! After that I got to hang with two of my girlfriends from high school. So thankful that I have them in my life! I’m glad that we can be apart for months at a time but when we see each other it’s as if no time has past at all.
Saturday. My mom and I got up early to go snag some bagels from an amazing bagel shop on Woodward. Salt Sticks are an amazing invention and they should be made worldwide. Unfortunately they aren’t so I need to get them when I can. We picked up some extras and took them over to my friends house who said she had a huge give away pile that I might be interested in. I left with a few pairs of shoes and some potential dresses. I’m thankful that we can all share clothes together! My other friend got in there and took most of the good stuff but I think I still made out well! Then my mom, sister and I hit the stores and we hit them hard! Since I had gotten so much the day before I decided it would be all about them this time. We got my sister a ton of stuff for her kids rooms and we bought stuff for my mom’s living room. It’s starting to look more like their style! However my Dad keeps bringing in black accents and beach stuff…they don't even live by the beach! I told my mom to tell my dad to STOP BRINGING THAT JUNK IN HERE! And putting black accents or painting everything black does not make it modern!!! After the shopping trip we headed to my sister’s house so I could get my dose of kids! I love those kids so much its crazy! After the kids went to bed my sister and watched Playing House. Its such a funny show!!
Sunday. My mom and I had to return something we bought the day before and we ended up getting her some new lamps and a few throw blanket. It’s amazing how pillows, blankets and lamps can completely transform a room! We got her a new clock too but the jury is still out on that one. Its shabby chic, meets vintage meets mirrors…hahaha I don’t know how else to describe it!
Monday. I decided to be a little adventurous with my meal. I made Lettuce Wraps from Damn Delicious! I want to say how much I love this girls recipes. I have probably found 10+ recipes that are so easy and delicious!!!! Eric gave it a two thumbs up!! I only had to pick up a few of the ingredients at the store and they were all so cheap! I even made the ground chicken in the food processor which I had to wipe the dust off the box before I used it because I NEVER use it! Maybe I will start to us it more now!
I had an amazing weekend and Moose and I were both excited to see Eric when we got home. When you live with someone, sometimes it’s nice to get away for a little bit only to realize how much you love and miss them when you are away.  Sorry about the pictures or lack thereof. I completely failed at taking pictures this weekend!

Anniversary Gift Ideas

In 13 days Eric and I will be celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary  and I need to figure out a gift for him! We never get to travel in the summer because we have so many visitors. Now that the summer is starting to wind down I was thinking of planning a little trip somewhere. Here are my ideas.
A Chicago Cubs Game. We have talked about going to a Cubs game forever! Why we have never planned it I’m not sure. This would be a great opportunity for us to make a little trip to Chicago, watch some baseball and explore the big city! It’s only 2 hours away and we got get a hotel for a night. We would be able to go to a game in August.
Michigan State Football Game. We love going to MSU to tailgate and be a part of the crowd. Every fall we would tailgate with Eric’s family and we even bought season tickets one year. Once we got married, we started working on our house and spending the weekends lounging instead of trekking two hours east to watch the game at a bar. I think it would be fun to make a weekend out of it and go to a game. We wouldn’t go to a game until September or October.
Fly Fishing Trip. I found a guide up in Manistee that will take you fly fishing for a day. I know Eric loves to go salmon fishing but I hate fishing on the big boat for salmon but I might like fishing in a river/creek for them. This won’t take place until October if we go.

I’m not sure which one I’ll do yet. I might get his input and see which he wants to do most (I bet it's the fishing one!) They all cost about the same amount so it’s really a tossup. He really doesn't need stuff so I think a trip or adventure would be a better gift. If you have any ideas around the Midwest let me know!

Weekend Recap; Camping

Happy Monday! We had such a long weekend it was crazy! I think camping is fun but 1.) without our dog and 2.) without rain. Our dog does great around a camp fires and he actually did really well in the tent this time, however anytime Eric left his sight he would start barking and crying! He was a bit of a handful this weekend! It wasn’t supposed to rain at all this weekend so we went out on the boat and didn't put our chairs or anything away. While we were out on the boat we saw a massive storm come in and we got caught in a 30 minute rain storm which stunk because all of our stuff got wet. Even though we had some hiccups I think we all still had a really good time. We caught some fish, I stubbed my toe, we ate some yummy food, ate some jerky, we went 2-treking, we went tubing down a river and we got some sun which is always great! I would say this was a good trip overall.
